Emperors and Southern Hawkers take flight!
No photos, but good news that 2 of our larger Shropshire based species have joined the scene. Having just suggested the chance of Emperors this morning I heard from J.Groom with a suspected sighting last Thursday at Wilderly Hill. A confirmed sighting then followed from W. Davies who saw 2 at Sweeney Fen on 12th June and a further 2 at Llanymynech today. What's more W. Davies has also reported Southern Hawker emerging from his pond near Oswestry finding 6 exuviae this morning. Could it be that summer is here? The challenge now is to get some photographs of these large fast insects - all gratefully received!
