Tricky female damselflies!

Gwyn and Sue Hiatt have been out enjoying the challenges of female damselflies at Newport Canal. Three lovely pics seen below all showing the same species Blue-tailed Damselfly:



 
The first 2 show the immature female form called 'rufescens' which will mature to a pale brown thorax and dull brown segment 8. The last pic shows 1 of the mature female forms called 'typica'.
NB. If you ever see a bright orange female this could be a very important find- a female Scarce Blue-tailed Damselfly.
