Azure Damselflies take to the wing

A new week and a new species for 2014! Thanks to Warwick Davies continuing to watch his pond near Oswestry we have the first Azure Damselfly sighting for 2014 on 5th May. Warwick also reports a good number of Large Red Damselflies emerging daily though a number are displaying deformities such as 3 wings or 3 legs. Much damage can occur during emergence as the insects are so vulnerable, but it would be interesting to hear if others are seeing issues that may result from problems in development as opposed to problems with emergence.
