1st July and the first Ruddy Darter record received from Rob Stokes. This immature male specimen was seen at Venus Pool just south of Shrewsbury and the lovely photo below clearly shows the waisted abdomen.
Zooming in on the same photo the all black legs are clearly visible along with the black 'T' marking on the top of the thorax, ruddy eyes and a great ruddy 'smudge' of colour on the frons or face area.
